Class Indirectly-acting sympathomimetic. /  Parasympatholytic (acetylcholine receptor blocker.)
Action HYDROXYAMPHETAMINE causes release of norepinephrine at the nerve terminal.
TROPICAMIDE blocks iris sphincter and the ciliary body response.
Usage Indicated for mydriasis in routine diagnostic procedures. Provides mydriasis with
partial cycloplegia. Slightly less dilation than tropicamide 1% with phenylephrine 2.5%
Onset - 15min.   Max about 40 - 60min.    Recovery in 6-8 hrs. (24hrs occasionally).
Contraindications Primary glaucoma, narrow anterior chamber angle, hypersensitivity to any
component of the product.
Pediatric use May rarely cause dangerous CNS disturbances. Psychotic reactions, behavioral
disturbances, and vasomotor or cardiorespiratory collapse in children have been
reported with the use of anticholinergic drugs.
Pregnancy Category C. Animal reproduction studies have not been conducted with PAREMYD®.
