Class Aminoglycoside and polypeptide antibiotics.
Action Neomycin, an aminoglycoside, inhibits bacterial cell synthesis.
Polymyxin B and Gramicidin increase bacterial cell membrane permeability.
Activity Active against Staph aureus, streptococci including Streptococcus pneumoniae,
Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria species, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Usage Indicated for superficial conjunctivitis, keratitis and
keratoconjunctivitis, blepharitis and blepharoconjunctivitis.
High incidence (10%) of type 4 delayed hypersensitivity reaction.
Contraindications Hypersensitivity to any of its components.
Pediatric use Safety and effectiveness in children not established.
Pregnancy Category C.      No well controlled studies.
Consider Polytrim, Tobrex or Besivance to avoid Neomycin allergy.
