| Usage | Augmentin is used to treat infections caused by the ß-lactamase producing strains of H. influenzae, M. catarrhalis, S. aureus, E. coli, Klebsiella spp as well as ampicillin-susceptible organisms particularly S. pneumoniae. |

| The q12hr regimen is preferred. 10 day course is typical. | ||
| Contraindications | Allergy to any of the penicillins. Previous cholestatic jaundice/hepatic dysfunction associated with Augmentin. |
